Sometimes, looking your best all comes down to the details. You could be wearing the most amazing designer dress, a killer pair of pumps, and out-of-this-world accessories, but if your nail polish is an absolute nightmare, you might as well have not spent all that effort on what you wore. Nobody will be looking at your ensemble. They’ll be too busy staring at the tips of your fingers. Now, while I’m all about taking risks and having fun with fashion, when it comes to nails, sometimes it’s best to play it on the safe side. No matter what you’re wearing, if you pair it with a natural or neutral nail shade, you’re guaranteed to look good. These colors mimic the color of healthy nails and health is always beautiful.

In the world of nail polishes, not all brands are equal. I am a devoted O.P.I. and Essie fan, and in fact, I choose my spas and nail salons by whether or not they carry these two products. If you’re looking for classic natural shades that never fail to disappoint, look no further than Essie’s Fed Up, O.P.I.’s Passion, O.P.I.’s Bubble Bath, and if you don’t mind splurging a little, Chanel’s Ballerina. These colors will always have you and your nails looking their best and most beautiful. But besides these classics, Essie and O.P.I. have some newer shades that have made their way onto my list of faves. Essie’s French Affair from their French Affair collection, O.P.I.’s Conney Island Cotton Candy, and O.P.I.’s It’s Totally So Fort Worth It from their Texas Collection are some of my recent discoveries that definitely deserve a mention for their quality and spectacular shades.

If asked to pick my all-time favorite nail polish, however, it would without a doubt be Essie’s Mademoiselle. And I’m not alone in my choice. Newbies and nail pros alike rave about this shade’s quality and classy look. It’s great either as an all-over color or as the base coat for a French mani. Whatever to have planned for your nails, Essie’s Mademoiselle will give them a clean, natural look that is polished, and most importantly, pretty!
