Designer Crush: Light Maker Studio

Light Maker Studio recently participated in the Interior Design Show (IDS) in Toronto, Ontario. The Toronto-based husband and wife duo, Denise and Michael Murphy, design and create innovative handcrafted light fixtures.

It was undoubtedly one of my favorite discoveries at the IDS. Their products are inspired by mid-century modern designs. They blend classic and modern styles, resulting in unique fixtures. This magic is created by hand in their small studio. The material used for producing these astonishing fixtures is blown glass and brass. It’s simple yet sophisticated.

Michael and Denise collaborate with creative partner, Michael Stamler, who also has experience in industrial design. Together they come up with unique ideas and designs. The best thing about the company is that they value their clients’ tastes and needs, and customize their orders based on the requirement of the space.

The couple is inspired by geometrical shapes and designs like circles, cylinders, and spheres. They combine these simple shapes in rhythmic styles. The architectural combination of these formations enhances the fixtures wherever they appear. It’s the uniqueness that gives their brand an identity all its own. They look classical yet modern. Their light fixtures are a true work of art and would look great in any space.
