The Freedom of Fashion: 5 Days of Style

I think most fashionistas would agree with me that fashion is most definitely an indulgence. It’s an indulgence not only because we spend money (sometimes a LOT of money) to satisfy our desires for the Dior dresses and Prada purses that make us drool, but also because fashion allows us to be whoever and whatever we want to be depending on the day. It permits us to fuel our fancies and to indulge our changing moods. And for that freedom, we love it!

Over the past 5 days, I’ve been keeping track of what I wear and why to explore a little further the freedom fashion gives me in my everyday life.

What I wore:

DVF dress, Wolford tights, YSL pumps, jewelry by Ippolita and David Yuman.

I had a big meeting scheduled early in the morning and… woke up late. Oops! But, not to worry! This situation was nothing a fashionista’s wardrobe couldn’t handle. I slipped on my favorite go-to dress by DVF and instantly looked stylish and put together. Once again, my closet saved the day!

What I wore:

Chanel Ballerina flats, Chanel medaillon Caviar bag, Dyrberg & Kern jewelry (From TCS), Woldford tights, Hermés Twill scarf Été 1969,Hermés Carmen keychain Milly coat, and sunnies by Gucci.

I knew I had a ton of running around to do today, so it was crucial that I had good footwear. I opted for my favorite Chanel ballet flats that are classy and comfortable to boot! Choosing the rest of my outfit was easy. I threw on a black Milly coat with beige trim that just happened to match my shoes perfectly. When I saw how well my Chanel bag accented the whole ensemble, there was no way I could leave it behind on my busy day.

What I wore:

Jacket by Sonia Rykiel, Theory tank top, Supertrash jeggings, Giuseppe Zanotti ballerina flats, YSL bag, Loveshop scarf, Muse bag, sunnies by Tom Ford, and Hermés Carmen key chain

While Jay-Z and Alicia Keys have sung about being in an “Empire State of Mind,” on this particular day, I was definitely in a “purple state of mind.” Purple is my favorite color and, as I recently bought this purple Loveshop scarf(link tcs), I decided to celebrate my shade of choice through my wardrobe. I matched my terrific new scarf with my prized purple Muse bag. Since any splash of purple in an outfit will instantly brighten my day, you know that I had to be glowing in these photos. Good thing I brought my sunglasses! 🙂

What I wore:

BCBG leather jacket, Loveshop scarf (TCS), vintage dress by Alaia, Woldford tights, Giuseppe Zannotti flats, YSL pony leopard easy bag, Dyrberg & Kern leather necklace, and vintage Persol sunnies.

It’s 5pm on Friday, and I’m heading for a drink at the Waverly with the girls. Since I wanted to go for a rocker look with a feminine twist, I added leather accents to a vintage Alaia dress and finished the outfit off with a pair of old-school Persol sunglasses. Rock’n’roll never looked so chic!

What I wore:

Madison Marcus crystal dress, Catherine Malandrino leather vest, Woldford tights, and Sam Edelman Jagger boots topped off with my favorite Karen Millen trench (TCS).

Saturday night means that the week is over and it’s time to let loose a little at my friend Claudia’s B-day celebration. What better to party in than a mini skirt and a pair of sky-high heels?

Let’s see what freedoms fashion will bring in the coming weeks!
