Things I love

Behind The Scene: SI Photoshoot

When you hear the phrase “indulge in,” you usually expect some thing to follow it, like chocolates, your all-time favorite movie, or that TV series you just can’t get enough of. But instead of looking for things to indulge in, here’s a different idea. Why not satisfy to your desire to be yourself? What about indulging in what it means to be you? I had this unique opportunity when I was shooting photos for the different sections of Serial Indulgence. I was challenged to come up with looks and poses that would capture the 6 sides of my personality on film. Supplied with an outstanding photographer, Julia, an amazing makeup artist from Annabelle Cosmetics named Anabelle Deschamps (coincidence?), a hairdressing wizard who used Redken products, Ludovic Leroy, and pieces from my own closet, I wasted no time making yours truly truly come through on camera.

I realized a long time ago that I’m not a square-glasses, argyle sweater-vest, and knee socks kind of girl. That look just isn’t me. So for the art-loving side of my personality, I wanted to put a sassier spin on the classic idea of an aesthete. I chose a Catherine Malandrino leather jacket with flowing lapels, Manolo Blanik thigh-high boots, tuxedo-striped leggings, and winged liner on my eyes for an edgier look that I softened with a simple v-necked Paris tee, beret, and long wavy locks. With a few art books by my side, I looked ready to discuss any masterpiece by Picasso or Pollock.

For the second look, I wanted to show my love of the domestic. Since the role of a hostess is to make everything picture perfect for her guests, I needed a picture perfect look in this shot. Conservative was definitely a word on my mind, but I didn’t want to lose my fun personality wearing drab colors. No neutrals for me! A stunning cobalt blue dress (a color that is very much “in” for spring, by the way) and a terrific magenta coat by Alberta Ferretti did the trick. I polished off the look with a pair of pink Stuart Weitzman satin platform heels, a popping pink lip color, cat-like eye makeup, and a retro hairdo that would make any of the wives from Stepford jealous. Picture perfect!

After a break for some scrumptious sushi, our team tackled the next shoot: the Health and Beauty Addict. In terms of the clothes, this look was the simplest. A gray tunic dress and a comfy cashmere sweater was all I needed because I really wanted to focus the camera’s attention on the hair and makeup. We used pink blush shades to play up my cheekbones and give me a healthy glow. Then, we pinned my freshly curled hair into a bouncy and chic up-do that emphasized my face. Any beauty queen would have been proud to have this look.

I literally held onto my hat as we traveled (in style, of course!) through the Jet-setter shoot. Here, I chose a flowing blue Boaime dress, stylish Louboutin wedge heels, some glamorous hoop earrings, and an exotic pearl necklace. With a wide brimmed hat propped on top of wavy hair, some peach colored lips, gold shadow on my eyes, and bronzer to give me a sun-kissed look, I was ready to see the world, or, at least the camera lens! 😉

As a self-proclaimed foodaholic, I couldn’t wait to let out my inner gourmand . I tied a cute cupcake apron over a simple white Milly sundress, added a pop of color with my Stuart Weitzman satin platform heels, and volià! My outfit was complete! After adding some bright eye shadows (very à la Katy Perry) and a bow to my perfectly coiffed updo, I couldn’t keep in the “Bon appétit!”

The Fashionista shoot was close to my heart. I selected a classy pink Temperley London dress, a nude Chanel bag that I accented with a gorgeous Hermès scarf, and some killer black Yves Saint Laurent pumps. For makeup, we went for a sophisticated smoky eye and nude lips. I loved this look because I was given my dream hairstyle, a perfect sleek bun! I was so excited about it that I went out after the shoot and bought the doughnut-shaped sponge Ludovic used to make the style! This do is a must for every girl’s repertoire! The result of all our hard work? A picture of one fierce fashionista, yours truly!

xoxo
