When visiting a place for the first time, it’s hard to know where to start your adventures. You can turn to a guidebook to give you hints about the must-not-miss places at your vacation spot, but my favorite way of getting the 411 on a locale is by talking to people who’ve been there. And if you’re going to Sydney, Australia, anytime in the near future, you’re going to want to read this post closely! I promise to be your link to the best and tastiest this city has to offer!
1) Sydney Opera House: If there’s one landmark that represents not just Sydney, but the whole of Australia, then it’s the Sydney Opera House. Though it’s shown frequently in guidebooks and on TV, you really need to see it in person to appreciate the building’s amazing architecture, and maybe catch an opera or two! It’s address?

2) Bondi Beach: One of the most famous beaches in the world! Besides remembering to frequently reapply your sunscreen, you’ll also want to remember this restaurant name for lunch: Sean’s Panaroma. Unfortunately, they’re only open for lunch on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, but their food is well worth rearranging your schedule for!

3) The Rocks: Known for being the home of the Cadigal people before colonization and where the Europeans first set foot in 1788, the Rocks now houses 19th century warehouses that have been converted into upscale restaurants and bars, as well as museums, markets, and stores! There’s always something to do here, but when deciding where to eat, check out Sake Sushi. I particularly recommend their tuna taco. It’s fantastic!

4) If you’re a shop-aholic, don’t miss Paddington, an eastern suburb of Sydney. Here you’ll find tons of Australian boutiques that are to die for! My favorites are Sass & Bide, HUSSY, Camilla, the Corner Shop, and Collette Dinnigan. You’ll probably be famished and parched by the time you’ve hit all the stores. Good thing there’s a new wine bar from Fratelli Paradiso handy called 10 William Street to set you straight in a jiffy!

5) Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA) – If you’re an art lover like me, the Sydney’s Museum of Contemporary Art is a must-see. Their current exhibitions include the works of New Zealand born Michael Stevenson, and a celebration of the past five successful years of the museum’s New Acquisitions.

6) Visit THE IVY– Nightlife doesn’t get any better than The Ivy. With 18 bars, nine restaurants and a must-see rooftop pool (each having it’s own extravagant decoration), it’s a party-goer’s dream! I promise you, it will be like nothing you have ever seen before!
