A Foodie’s Frolic in Fusion: Sydney’s Tetsuya’s

Food is definitely my guilty pleasure, which is why I’ve made a truly indulgent life goal for myself. I’m going to dine at the top 50 restaurants in the world. Ambitious, no? Good thing I’m already off to a fantastic start! This past January, I went to Sydney, Australia, with one of my besties and to celebrate her birthday, I made a reservation at the incredible Tetsuya’s. As predicted, we had an out-of-this-world experience that I can’t help sharing with the rest of you indulgaholics!

First of all, the service was absolutely flawless. The wait staff was friendly, attentive, and extremely knowledgeable. They explained every dish and answered all questions about the courses with ease. This fantastic service was the perfect lead-in to the to-die-for food that followed. The fusion of Japanese and French cuisines was divine and made the evening, without a doubt, one of the best culinary experiences of my life! Everything that was brought to our table was presented simply but all the while maintaining its sophistication. That’s no easy task! The restaurant’s signature dish of Petuna ocean trout confit will certainly stay in my mind for a long time, as will the mouth-watering deserts. Note the plural! Desert was a three-course event, with the pièce de résistance coming last. Knowing that it was my best friend’s special day, the restaurant prepared the most delicious chocolate fondant that I have ever tasted (and I’ve tasted quite a few! 😉 ). Tetsuya’s thoughtfulness didn’t end there, however. They also gave us a copy of that night’s menu, complete with the date and birthday wishes for my bestie! Their attention to detail was a really nice touch.

Of course, to match our impressive surroundings, my bestie and I dressed to impress. I sported a stylish DVF dress, Zanotti shoes, and YSL bag, while the birthday girl looked gorgeous in a blush dress by my favorite Aussie designer, HUSSY, Casadei shoes, and a Louis Vuitton bag. After finishing our meal, it was time to dance the night away at one of the best clubs in Sydney, IVY. I had never seen anything like this 6 floor wonder before! It was the perfect way to end the night and to commemorate not only my friend’s birthday, but also my first step to accomplishing my life-long foodie goal.
